I can't believe that there are people who did not like Dostana. I thought it was laugh out loud funny. One bunch of people thought that the humour was puerile and childish and therefore not funny. If this is a longstanding thought, then they must not like 90% of all comedy movies emerging from Bollywood. This lot should all shift to watching Woody Allen movies. Bollywood specializes in childish, simple to understand, sometimes slapstick comedy.
There are those that touted the film as a bold statement for gay rights. It would have been bold if one or more of the characters were actually gay. The male leads of the film pretending to be gay for the sake of the plot and the obvious comedy involved is not bold, it's just funny. This is not cinema making a social statement, its just cinema trying to make money, like the rest of Bollywood. As far as I am concerned, it was fully paisa vasool.
